I received several requests for a closer look at the dust collection on my planer. The factory dust hood is no longer available for my particular model, so in order to capture all the chips and dust that is produced from this beast I had to create my own dust hood.

I basically constructed a box with a cut-out on one side to accept the dust exhaust. The top is a thin piece of MDF just to seal everything off. Other than the 3/4″ plywood and MDF, I used a 4″ self cleaning blast gate that is attached directly to the top of the box, which is very convenient. Take a look at a few images below from the video.
